Based on a late 16th century table found in Victor Chinnery`s book,"Oak Furniture a British Tradition".
The structure is crafted from green oak, stop chamfers cut by axe and drawknife.True to original pieces Rails are finshed on face side only, internal unseen surfaces are left riven, and only roughly cleaned up .joints are draw bored. The top is made from an ancient single slab of elm.
The top has been smoothed with scrub plane only,so the undulations of the blade and wind of the old timber add a sense of age.
