Commissions taken on individual items of furniture, doors, windows and other joinery. I am happy to design items to your specifications or alternatively work around designs or ideas that you may have, or replicate original joinery.

I work only with authentic hand tools using traditional techniques,(though I occasionaly use a chainsaw to buck logs to length,). I mostly work in green oak, using draw bore mortise & tenon joints featuring scribed and hand-carved decoration.

I occasionally craft items from reclaimed timber.

My furniture bears the marks (just as you see in early antique furniture) of the hand tools that made them. From the large beaten copper appearence of an adze to the shallow grooves of the scrub plane, or barely distinguishable smoothing plane, Leaving all the characteristic imperfections and tool marks that reflect the light.... This creates a texture within the pieces which invites you to touch them.

All the iron nails or fixtures, locks and hinges within my pieces are hand forged.

I am available to carry out sympathetic restoration of furniture and joinery.

Beams and Bressumers are hand hewn for authentic replacements in ancient timber frame buildings.
I hew beams from primarily from green oak ,using axe, broad axe, or adze.

Small timber-framed buildings such as a conservatory , porches, studio`s or garden sheds undertaken.

I am available for consultation on repair, restoration and authentic replacement, of buildings, their joinery, stone, brick, wattle and daub panels, and timber work,....again using traditional tools and materials such as lime putties, hazel, clay, and oak.
